ATLIS Geomatics was founded in 1995 and has had a presence in Calgary since 2001. ATLIS specializes in digital aerial survey acquisition, photogrammetry for the production of orthophoto and/or topographic mapping, lidar and satellite image processing.
We have an immediate opportunity for a Geomatics Engineer to work within our Calgary, Alberta office to fulfill roles within business development and geo-technical support and education. Travel will be required on occasion between Alberta, British Columbia, and Western Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate for this position will be required to understand the science and applications of terrestrial, airborne and satellite sensors which are used to gather data and develop information systems suitable for land use planning and landscape analysis.
Specifically, the position (successful candidate) will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Identify new prospects and opportunities;
- Conduct compelling presentations to new and existing accounts;
- Applying critical thinking skill and technical expertise to propose mapping solutions based on accounts requirements;
- Editing survey data and create CAD designs as requested by clients;
- Complete general calculations regarding volumes with basic DTM design;
- Post processing of static and RTK data, basic GPS mission planning and basic control network analysis design;
- Local coordinate system conversions;
- Plan and track projects with clients and other team members;
- Research, plan, and create proposals for new opportunities.
- Data management and spectral analysis of aerial, satellite and LiDAR data;
- Identify new solutions to benefit new and existing accounts using terrestrial, airborne and satellite sensors.
Qualifications:
- Relevant engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Registered member of APEGGA; Land Survey Commission is an asset;
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience; i.e. geomatics engineering experience, sales or equivalent knowledge / experience within the geomatics/survey industry;
- Advanced skills in effective client interaction including the ability to track budgets and project cost controls;
- Knowledge and use of computer hardware and software;
- Must speak, read and write English fluently. Additional languages and asset;
- Must have a valid driver’s license;
- Must be able to work within a fast-paced environment, work under pressure and have attention to detail;
- Must have excellent problem solving skills and be able to work well with others as part of a team or independently as assigned to projects;
- Knowledge of and experience with CAD drafting tools, soft-copy photogrammetry instrumentation, remote sensing software;
- Willingness to travel is required;
